Summary:  Two complementary business with a twenty-year relationship are being offered as one combined business. Business number one develops and markets a broad specialized line of animal housing and transport products used in animal biome research laboratories worldwide. A line of exclusive, high-margin consumables is also sold in conjunction with these products and they account for approximately 25% of revenue. Company number two is a plastic fabricator who manufactures the product components and assembles the various products. Additionally, this business produces and sells to other equipment dealers various components made similarly from machined plastic sheeting and stock.

Facility/Employees:  Housed in a 7,200 sq. ft. facility co-owned by both business (and available separately to purchase at an appraised price of $750,000), the companies share both the 1,200 sq. ft. office space, and the 6,000 sq. ft. production shop. The production facility is equipped and organized to support fabrication and assembly of contracted sizeable products and product components. Current rent is $3,773 per month. The companies employ, including the two owners, a total of 10 full-time and 2 part-time staff, 8 of which are dedicated to product fabrication and assembly tasks.

Opportunities:

There are sizeable sales growth opportunities for both businesses. The first business consists of laboratory animal housing products and focuses on national sales promoted by through Google and sales reps. Customers are generally top-tier universities and government agencies such as the FDA, CDC, NIH, etc. There are some limited international sales and this could be expanded through international sales reps. New product offerings could also be developed for both Controlled Environments and Workstations. The second fabrication business currently has no sales staff or sales representatives and no web site, and generates sales only through repeat customers and word-of-mouth referrals.  Current fabrication services could be expanded into Acrylic and PVC materials fabrication to attract additional customers.  Approximately one-third of their sales are to the companion company.

Other:  Sale prompted by owners’ retirement, however, they are willing to stay on for a protracted period of sales and operations training.
